Bridgeport Hills is a teen drama written by Andrija Prelec. It’s created with the Sims 3, a strategic life simulation computer game developed by The Sims Studio and published by Electronic Arts. It is currently in its first season which is scheduled to end in June.
Plot
Bridgeport Hills follows the life of Samantha Clarke, a 16-year-old from
Riverview whose parents died in an accident. Her parents left her to
her uncle, Matthew Clarke, who lives in Bridgeport with his wife, Lydia
and their daughter, Scarlett.
After arriving to Bridgeport she meets Christopher, Scarlett’s boyfriend. It is then revealed that Scarlett actually cheated on Chris, so he breaks up with her. She also meets Michael, a nerdy neighbour living with his stepdad and his son, Dylan. They instantly become friends as they realise they have a lot of in common.

Conception
The idea for a teen drama came to Prelec in 2008. He then started his work on a show called ‘Sunset’ which followed the lives of teens living in a small coastal town. The show was aired on SimTV before going on a hiatus after its 9th episode. It was made with the Sims 2.
After Sims 3 got released Prelec wanted to re-release Sunset and make it with the Sims 3. Two episodes were produced, but he wasn’t happy with the result as he thought the show lost its touch in the Sims 3.
Then finally as a new expansion for the Sims 3 (Late Night) got announced, Prelec decided to start working on the show again. However, it wasn’t Sunset anymore, it was a completely new show - Bridgeport Hills. Instead of following the lives of teenagers living in a small coastal town it was a show about rich teenagers living in a new city (Bridgeport).

Prelec describes Bridgeport Hills as a mixture of his favorite shows (One Tree Hill, The OC, Gossip Girl) with a bit of a ‘Mean Girls’ feel to it. It’s everything teenagers love in a show - it’s filled with drama, but in the same time it has its funny moments. Most importantly it shows teenagers as they grow and try to figure out what to do with their life.
Episode Format
Every episode of Bridgeport Hills (besides the pilot) follows a
regular structure. An episode usually begins with a recap of events relevant to the events in the episode. After the first scene an intro
is played which shows the main characters. The theme song used in the intro is ‘Trapped’ by Dead By April.

Music
Music plays a significant part in the plot and the movement of the
scenes throughout an episode. The music sets the emotion of the scene
and that’s why Prelec likes to start with choosing the song before
writing the dialogue.
